Fetch Quest: Chapter 9, Page 6 LORD, she is nosy. Nephilim being the "Barbie Girl" of the comic (so far, anyway), I took the time to stick her in something else for the occasion. The script didn't call for it, BUT! 'EY. That's what creative license is for.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: March 4th, 12:16 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 9, Page 5 Looking back at the comments for the last page, I can safely say that you lot are sick. Why can't you be classy? Like me? And take a page like this? And make an "ASSASSIN!!" joke? XD
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: February 28th, 11:00 P.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 9, Page 4 Her name is Nephilim Lachesis. She speaks for the shippers. I actually demanded that Renner use that fifth panel for the Latest Chapter image on the front page if for the sole reason that it was amusing to me. WHAT'S TAKIN', RENNER XD Oh, and I realized that I accidentially reused February 22nd's quote as the Random Quote of the Day last update. Rather than fix the boo-boo and have it not be seen, for the first time in TRG Productions history: TWOOOOO Random Quotes of the Day!
RANDOM QUOTES OF THE DAY: February 25th, 12:12 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 9, Page 3 Wait, WHAT? It's already Monday? NO! I haven't even gotten any work do... OOOOH, RIIIIIGHT, we're doing the two pages thing again. Silly me. *AHEM* Boy, bet these two never thought in a million years they'd ever meet up again, huh? BUT THAT'S JUST WHAT WE DO HERE. And someone's all too intrigued in the matter. A little commentary on the side, but at this point, I slightly changed how I draw Felica's hair. I think it flows just a little better like this.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: February 22nd, 12:11 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 9, Page 2 There's one in every family. TWO in mine, actually. Also, a bit of good news. Starting with this page, we are officially back on the two page a week update schedule. If you haven't been around for the first application of that schedule, update days are still Monday but also on Thursday. I'm still at an iffy spot with the buffer, but the fact is that everything from this chapter on just would not be done justice with the current schedule. Besides. I worked a lot harder WITH the schedule at two pages a week. FINE TIME TO NOTICE, UH?
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: February 15th, 12:12 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 9, Page 1 Annnnd here's the Chapter 9 Title Page, featuring the Twin Princesses of Strife. ...yeeeeeeeah, I got nothin'. XD;; Though it is nice to draw Saffron and Nephilim again. Their chemistry with each other gives me a level of freedom higher than most of the other characters so far. Though it's amusing to portray Saffron with all her unladylike attitude and all, I have to say that I like Nephilim a bit more because of her reactions to said attitude. Regardless, I think they both have their points with me.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: February 12th, 9:47 P.M. Ugh, never have I been more lame. I totally had new artwork and fanart I was going to put up a few months ago, but was gonna wait on that because I had intentions of making a section in my artwork page for my Craze (Transformation) art, but then I never found the chance to make any good ones and the majority of what I already did make was private to say the least, so I totally dumped the idea...and forgot to update altogether. WHOOPS But now, with a new commission under my belt, I finally have a chance to update the rest of the new art and fanart I've gotten. At least now I have much more than I did back then, so enjoy.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: February 7th, 11:59 P.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 11 Whoa, is it update day already? We're going to be taking a little breather of sorts before the next part of the story, due to this page being an End of Chapter page and the next being the cover page for Chapter 9. On the plus side, now that Lionel's had a big reveal, he gets to have an EoC page to himself, so you get to learn a little more about what makes him him.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: January 24th, 11:30 P.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 10 Geez, now even the guards are catching him! LIONEL. You're worse at espionage than I am. But! 'EY. Who said Lionel was the only one we'd learn something about, uh? I mean sure, you could have easily figured it out, but for all you know, she was prolly being cute. She does that. Oh, by the way? Did you know that this is the 100th page of Fetch Quest? AND WE'VE YET TO SCRATCH THE SURFACE >: D
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: January 24th, 11:30 P.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 9 Lesson learned: When the Fafnirian takes you somewhere, you're going. WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT >: D There's...not really much else to say about this page. Except that it's difficult to convey flying with wings in a still media without exaggerating it. And I know Ambrosia and Lionel switched positions in the last panel. Somehow it worked out for the best, so let's just assume I know what I'm doing.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: January 18th, 12:00 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 8 Accursed bat. YOU WON'T GET THE BEST OF ME... Oh, whoops. YES, tell the Fafnirian all your problems. She is, after all, an aspiring doctor. BUT! 'EY. So Lionel's not as high and mighty as he was making himself out to be. Would he be interesting if he was? Ambrosia may be the most mature youngster I've ever had to work with, but the fact is that she's still a youngster. As such, she's obviously going to be affected by some of the company she has to put up with. Without naming names, let's just say that this led me to have her pick on Lionel a little during this discussion. I think it made things a little more pleasant, despite Lionel getting things...not, heh.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: January 10th, 11:00 P.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 7 DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN That's all I can say without spoiling the page here. If you want to see commentary, go to my DeviantArt account. Also, since it couldn't be said on the 1st and I forgot to last week AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Happy 1st Anniversary, Fetch Quest! I can't believe this comic is already a year old.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: January 3rd, 11:11 P.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 6 Interview with the Fafnirian, TELL US EVERYTHING YOU KNOW You know those faded trees in the background. True story, but after finishing this page, I went back and added them to the last page, which had nothing but blank spots on areas that didn't contain a drawn background. TIME PARADOX
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: December 28th, 12:00 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 5 Lionel, you are terrible at espionage. SOLID SNAKE IS VERY DISAPPOINT Sometime between now and Chapter 3, Ambrosia got herself a new set of wings. Seriously, they just pop off and snap on...like...some kind of toy that escapes me at the moment. I have to say, they look more wing like than they did before. GOOD FOR ME...I MEAN HER
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: December 21st, 12:07 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 4 Ahh! A hidden boss! KILL IT! QUICK! NONO wait...false alarm, it's only Ambrosia. ...KILL IT! QUICK! *Mauled by Ambrosia Fans. Possibly Mike Renner, too.* Ah, a page that I can actually be PROUD of, especially after the shame of the last one. As much as I love city settings, working on the can be such a bitch sometimes. The absurd amount of details, making sure the buildings are straight, yadayadayada...Nature, on the other hand, you can just go crazy and it'll look natural. SUCH A SITUATION I HAVE
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: December 13th, 12:07 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 3 Almost forgot what day it was. The making of this page was taking too long, especially with that first panel. I regrettably had to take some shortcuts to move things along to easier pages coming up in an attempt to get the buffer up to speed faster with the drop in detail considering later pages, like that third panel. It was supposed to be an outside shot of the elevator going up the side of the mountain there, but I cheated and had it going up from a bottom view. Hopefully you can tell. I really did consider going back and fixing it, but I had too much to worry about to do that as it was. I have to say that at least this miserable failure on my part lit a fire up my ass to do better in the next pages, so it's not a total loss.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: December 8th, 11:15 P.M. Oooooh dear. I seem to have finished the Year7 Celebratory Pic far, FAR sooner than I expected...I mean it was going to be done sooner than the actual anniversary anyway considering that said date is the day after Christmas, BUT! 'EY So, another year of my presence has gone by. But most of my attention is now based on Fetch Quest these days. What do I have to celebrate besides my existence? Well, I wouldn't so much call this a celebration of days gone by, but the new beginning of years to come. Take this pic for instance. Rocking the new designs they've been saddled with for a few years now, we have the Rogues Gallery (Yeah, Rogues. Turns out, just like my misspelling of the word, I've been doing it wrong all these years. You're not supposed to have the apostrophe, but I digress). Nala, Kitty, Big Nasty, Destiny, Fayte, Jorge...but who's that other girl with them, we've never seen her before, right? And what's with the logo slightly visible in the background? Well, lemme spin you a yarn, my friends. See, back around mid 2005, I've been silently working on coming up with a story that the Rogues can call their own. You may have heard me go on about it under the public term of a 'new canon'. It was something I had been doing in the hopes of perhaps getting it published once I've honed my craft to an acceptable level that would warrant such. These days, I've made so much regarding this new canon that I had even begun creating concept and completed art for it, only showing it to a few choice friends of mine. Not a LOT of it, but still, it's something. But while I was doing this, I was pretty much leaving you all with nothing but my work on Fetch Quest and the occasional commission. I didn't intend to post anything related to the new canon publicly because I wanted to keep the ideas fresh for whenever it did get published. But over time, I realized that I was thinking too highly of myself. Who's to say this work of mine would even be worth a label's time of day? And really, I don't feel doing something isn't worth it if I can't show anyone. So I decided that from now on, I would share whatever I deemed appropriate regarding this new canon. And what better time to make that decision that the seven year anniversary of my online existence, eh? I just want to get one thing clear, though. I am NOT...NOT...NOT making this into a webcomic. Sharing concepts, introducing some new faces created for the project, getting reacquainted with the ones you know, that's my game here. That being said, I hope you all like what you see and welcome you to the age...of Rogue Neo.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: December 7th, 12:21 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 2 Would you believe I only drew this about three weeks ago? AAAAAAAAGH GET AWAY FROM ME It's really funny. No sooner am I back from a month long sabbatical from working on Fetch Quest to attempt to catch up with my other stuff am I bombarded with details, details, DETAAAAAILS! At least the worst is over for now and I have a better chance of distancing myself from the rest of you buffer wise. ENJOY SEEING ME WHILE YOU STILL CAN FOOLS Oh, and two things. You might notice how the pages are relatively smaller than they once were. It's something that I wanted to do for a long time and only finally got a valid excuse to do it when Renner said it was necessary for a future site overhaul. Hopefully it'll make the pages a little better to look at and at the same time, I hope it doesn't make them harder to read. And that schemer lookin' dude totally looks like a cross between Jorge Amingo and Jen Irwin. I didn't even plan that. XD;;
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: November 30th, 11:00 P.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 8, Page 1 Oh, there he is. Ambrosia is certainly developing a tendency to be drawn more SPOOOOOOOOKEEEEEEEEEEEEE that she really is (which is to say, she isn't, unless you're one of those DIFFERENCE IS SIN types), isn't she? But yeah. I thought of this cover as it was, but as I was explaining it to Renner, decided to add the little corner part, 'cuz damn if I don't apply my own personal humor much these days (IT'S NOT YER FAULT, RENNER. REALLY, IT ISN'T).
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: November 22nd, 11:00 P.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 7, Page 11 Hey, what's this? Could it be? Have we actually gotten to a point in the story where there's...GASP...CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT? Well, I suppose that all depends on your definition of the term, heh heh heh. BUT! YEAH. You know what I mean. We've been at this at such a sluggish pace lately (Workin' on it, seriously, I've got a Month of Fetch Quest lined up once I get some things settled. It's like a Month of Commissions, but...well, you get the idea) that it's hard to imagine finally getting to such a revealing instance. Man, at this rate, we may even learn something about Lionel!...hey, where'd he go, anyway?
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: November 16th, 12:00 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 7, Page 10 Aaaaaaaaaaand Saffron's had enough of this bit.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: November 13th, 12:37 A.M. Transformation Idol 5 Winner. (Careful! It's a long'un!) Also, with this artwork, I also provide the first SvR10 CAW demo videos, one for Nala Navilos and one for Kitty Navilos. After a little showing off, it'll tell you what to search for at the Community Creations server. Remember, PS3 only!
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: November 9th, 12:00 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 7, Page 9 I sure hope nobody is sharing Saffron's 'enthusiasm' at this point. XD;;; A couple of things to say! First off, thank you all for the birthday wishes, and most of you for the presents and fanart! Muchly appreciated, it is. And on a lengthy note, a little something of my own. QUESTIONS! How many of you own a copy of WWE SmackDown! Vs. Raw 2010? How many of you own it for the PS3? (I really should know better than to ask that last question by now...OH WELL, I'll keep going...) While it is flawed, this year's model offers the option to upload your created wrestlers, or CAWs for short, online for easy access and download. Now when it comes to CAWs, I am quite a fiend. If any of you follow my YouTube account, you'd know this. So naturally, I'm putting all of my creations online. They'll vary from The Rogues Gallery to various other characters you might recognize from mine or any of my friends' stuff. So from now on until I run out of ideas or space to make CAWs (50 or no XD;;), I'll be putting up info about what CAWs are available from me and what tags to type in to find them, though all you need to do, really, is find one of my CAWs, click on "Content by the Creator", and you'll find all my other stuff, too, such as Created Finishers, Snapshots, and Highlight Reels if those also tickle your fancy. I must warn you about the aforementioned flaws, though. If you download CAWs, you cannot edit them. At all. I can understand this from an appearance standpoint, and maybe even the movesets, but that means that you cannot give any of the characters their appropriate themes in the Create An Entrance feature, either. So time after time I may also inform of updated CAWs as well, but you're going to have to put up with whatever theme songs straight from the game I give them, because I'm not having anyone coming out to dead silence. Luckily, many of the themes are good and you may like what you hear. I'll also inform of what in-game themes I give folks. So yeah. Keep that in mind. I'll start posting info once I make some demo videos so people can get a good idea of what they're getting.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: November 2nd, 12:00 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 7, Page 8 Remember how I said that this chapter was a little locale heavy? And how you hadn't seen nothing yet? You saw the Strife City Academy of Magic. You saw Strife Castle (Again). Now say hello to Vili. And a reminder: Birthday is this Saturday (Nov. 7th). Do with that knowledge what you will.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: October 31st, 8:37 P.M. Hey, just in time for Halloween! The Wise Mankey Commission: Part the Thirty-First.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: October 26th, 10:46 P.M. A little piece of artwork this time, the product of some tablet practice. And if you would like to SEE that practice, you can watch videos of how this piece came to be here and here.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: October 26th, 12:00 A.M. Fetch Quest: Chapter 7, Page 7 I'm aware a few of you are expecting all hell to break loose if what happened with the last teacher of these two is any indication, but Felicia and the twins have to...yanno...MEET first. C'mon. These things take tiiiiime, meng.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: October 23rd, 9:07 P.M. Ai, wouldn't you know it? You finish a two month project and everything blows up on ya. XD What is this project, you ask? WHYYYYYYYYYYY this year's Halloween piece, of course! ...hopefully, you remember these guys. They've been away for a while. % D;;;;;
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: October 18th, 11:59 P.M. Say, weren't there supposed to be twin princesses in this comic? Wherever did they go? Oh. There they are. And they weren't even frozen in a block of ice for decades on end. Oh, and my birthday is in three weeks (Nov. 7th). Do with that knowledge as you will.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: October 11th, 11:59 P.M. Almost forgot that I had to upload this tonight! OH, what's to say, what's to say? Felicia gets her answer from the last page about the importance of her two students. If you couldn't already figure it out yourselves, these two have been away for far too long! XD
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: October 8th, 10:59 P.M. Jotaro Kujouk Commission: Part the Thirteenth
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: October 4th, 10:59 P.M. I have to say, this chapter is a little locale heavy. But trust me when I say you ain't seen nothin' yet. But at least it's all on separate pages and not all on the same page like on Chapter 2, Page 2. NEVAR FORGET
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: September 27th, 11:21 P.M. Aaaaaand there they go. Hope this drags out an "Awwwwww" from one or two of you.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: September 20th, 11:01 P.M. That cocky lookin' lass in the top panel should look familiar to a certain somebody. I WONDER IF SHE KNOWS WHO SHE IS
So Felicia and Lionel finally arrive in Strife City. Yay! Don't worry, folks. Lionel's not gone yet. And when he is, he'll be back. In the meantime, we'll catch up with old friends. You'll know who I mean soon enough if you don't already. And again, thanks to those who assisted in the donation drive!
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: September 14th, 12:01 A.M. A terrible lot of the time, I confuse myself with someone who has a lot of time on his hands. This page is a fine example of one of those times. When I came up with the idea for this cover, I knew what I was getting myself into, but it was only when I attempted to draw out every single book on that little staircase of sorts when I realized that, given the mess of other projects that I owe and need to commit to, I had to find an easy way out and fast. Enter copy+paste. Hey, I'm not proud of it, but I've got to come to terms with the fact that, as much as I love overdetailing the everloving poop out of things, I'm not Eiichiro Oda. (For the life of me, I cannot fathom how that man can crap out that kind of detail for 18 or so pages in a WEEK. My KINGDOM for an army of obedient clones.) Also, wanna thank those who donated in the past week. I'll be adding my own funds again on Thursday, so once PayPal clears everything, we'll see where that takes us.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: September 6th, 11:38 P.M. And with this semi-silent page, Chapter 6 draws to a close. Uhh....I don't really have a terrible lot to say about this page. But it sure is neat how you can appreciate more of what's in the panel when there aren't text bubbles blocking most of the stuff in it. But if you come to the Fetch Quest website via my links on DeviantArt and SheezyArt, you are prolly aware of that. BUT. Now for some serious bidness...er...business. It would appear that September is an eventful month for me, bad events more times than most. Two years ago I moved to Indiana, last year, I needed to get a new laptop after the Hugo Jr. croaked on me, and now I find myself in my most biggest pinch yet. See, last Tuesday, wouldn't you know it? I bring my truck over to the local car repair shop to get an evaluation done and the transmission keels over and dies on their test run. I still have it, but until it gets a brand new transmission installed, all it'll do is collect dust in the parking lot. And with the winter months on the horizon, things are looking bad. So, as much as I hate doing this, I'm left with no choice but to open up another Donation Drive. The intended goal is $2,500. Now I know this is a most obscenely ridiculous amount to ask for, but that's how much it'll cost to get the transmission ordered and repaired. I'm looking for other options, but this place is the only close one around. Much like the laptop scenario, I am not depending on your help alone. I will be adding whatever funds I can manage to spare myself as well and I've already got a $400 good start. My hope is that I manage to get this done before the snow falls, but if not, hey, I'll tough it out as long as I can until I amass the amount needed. Whether or not you contribute to this cause is entirely up to you. If you want to kick over $1, $10, or $100 is your call. If you wish you could help, but can't, then I at least appreciate my being in your thoughts...and hey, if you just flat out don't want to, it's your call. Just know that if you help me out even the smallest bit with this, I will be most appreciative. I apologize for once again coming to all of you for this sort of thing.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: September 1st, 11:35 P.M. Let's get this new month rolling with a new commission!
Jotaro Kujouk Commission: Part the Twelfth And if that's not enough, I got three drawings I did for some co-workers in the original art section of my Artwork page.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: August 23rd, 10:45 P.M. Crack of dawn, remember? And Momo was her naaaaame-o. So lady has a comic canon face now. Good for her. Hope you enjoyed what you got from her because even without the schedule we normally have, we won't be seeing her again for a LLLLONG time. But now that we've passed her, let me ask you if you remember something Sir Frederick said in Chapter 2. Something about Royal Hunters causing a ruckus in Helios? And that they were looking for someone, but no one knew who? If you actually remembered that, mad props to you since that chapter was, surprisingly enough, an era ago. Speaking of which, can you believe it? I actually started drawing pages for this series one year ago tomorrow and here I am, almost 100 pages later. Time sure has flown, yet we haven't even come close to touching the meat of the matter. GOTTA WORK HARDER And on the matter of the current update schedule. I know, updating once a week is webcomic suicide unless you're Exterminatus Now or even the relatively new heartcore (enjoy the free plugs, ya mugs!). But I'm steadily bringing the buffer back up, which is kinda surprising considering some of the detail I've had to put up with in the coming pages. The real reason I suggested such was so I could attempt another Month of Commissions so I can work on that pile without killing Fetch Quest's update schedule too heavily, but while there was a wee little miscommunication between Renner and I, it was for the best considering the old pitiful state of the buffer. So just bear with us a little while longer. We'll have it back to two pages weekly in due time.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: August 23rd, 10:15 P.M. So it's early. Some of us have to be at their jobs at the crack of dawn. Have I gone out of my way to hide this girl's face or what? But don't worry, all will be revealed next page. ...then again, she's already been in a few commissions, so it's not like she's new or anything. Why did I decide to go this route? Well, after hiding her face on the cover page of this chapter and on page 72, I thought it'd be interesting if I just kept it up until the next page coming, sort of a slight reveal buildup, or Hell, even as something of a challenge to myself. So in short, for no reason at all but the fun of it. XD
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: August 20th, 3:37 P.M. Hey, folks. It's Thursday and you're all probably wondering where the next page of Fetch Quest ran off to. Well for the time being, we're going to be switching to a once-a-week schedule on Mondays so I can rebuild the buffer to it's former glory. I apologize for not mentioning this sooner. See you on the 24th.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: August 17th, 12:01 A.M. So she was swinging and thrusting and what not all for nothing? Imagine if she had messed up Lionel as bad as those other dudes and found this out later, boy would her face be red. ...well...it would be if you could see it. Don't forget to vote.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: August 13th, 7:47 P.M. Roger64 Commission: Part the Sixteenth Not only an art piece, but a commission at that. FINALLY, I'm getting back on track.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: August 12th, 11:45 P.M. Geez. Ice woman is pissed. So it's been a long time since I had actually done a fight scene and I tried out some new things. Biggest would prolly be the zoomlines on black areas that you sometimes see in similar fights in manga. It's been a technique that I've tried to emulate for a long time with little success to my name, but I think I finally got it here. I played this page in my head several times as if it were animated and had to cut quite a lot of things I would have done, but this isn't an animation I'm making. It's a comic. And lord only knows comics tend to do this sort of thing all the time. Besides, if I went movement for movement on something like this, we'd be here for weeks! Don't forget to vote.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: August 10th, 12:00 A.M. I tell you man, people these days. They'd rather stab you in the face than accept any form of help. So ungrateful. But seriously, folks, I could say a lot about this page. For example! Our mystery woman there from the cover of the chapter and who we saw booking past Lionel a few pages back. Pretty awesome reveal panel, eh? I only wish I didn't have to make it so shadowy (I didn't HAVE to, it wasn't required by Renner or anything, but for that dramatic effect of emerging from total darkness, you gotta do what you gotta do) because the lass looked rather badass. Also, you'll notice that I'm once again taking a page out of Kaizoku-Fansubs and using Attack Text like they tend to do in their One Piece subs and other subbers followed suit. What can I say? Makes it look more interesting and makes the attack itself stand out a little more. I guess that's why anime characters shout out the name of their techniques. Just isn't the same without it (and I know that for a fact. A Kamehameha just doesn't have the same kick when it's fired without the traditional KAAAAAMEEEEEHAAAAMEEEEEHAAAAAAA shout. Without it, it's just another blast of energy). And if you're a fan of the power of ice, like I am and Kirb is (though I also favor Wind as well), then you're in for a treat. Enjoy! VOTE VOTE
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: August 6th, 12:00 A.M. What is it with goons, gals, alleys, and guys getting their heads handed to them in this region? And remember to vote!
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: August 3rd, 12:10 A.M. I may go just a LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTLE bit overboard when I draw cobblestones. So, Helios! As you can see, there are two parts to this city. A nice, clean, prim and proper model on the outside, yet inside is a grim, grimy, dilapidated shell. As such, I like to refer to it as "Two-Face Town". The voting cycle at TWC has reset! And we're two days behind everyone else! Quickly now! We got some commentary for you, so go on and vote!
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 29th, 11:30 P.M. It's gonna be a looooooooong trip to Strife City. Well...for Lionel, not for us. Votes + Commentary = Yes!
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 26th, 11:30 P.M. Quite the change in scenery from all the rocks and cliffs we've seen for the part few chapters, huh? It was, unfortunately, around this time when I ran afoul of a vicious burnout. As a result, the buffer that I had worked so hard on took a tremendous blow and as we speak, I'm still working on this specific chapter. We're doing all we can to bring the buffer back up to speed without further killing myself to death but know that this won't effect the update schedule any. While the buffer isn't as plentiful as it once was, it's still got a steady three weeks of life, so we'll be just fine. Remember to vote. We've still got plenty of commentary to spew.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 23rd, 11:45 P.M. It's a little earlier than normal, but I gotta be in bed soon. Gotta adjust to this whole 'early to bed, early to rise' nonsense. Lemme spin you guys a yarn. The first five chapters were all sent to me in one file by Mike Renner back when I was first doing nothing but concept work. So having finally completed that file and moved on to the smaller single chapter ones he started to send afterward, I decided to do something special with the cover to Chapter 6, so I went the extra mile, added that old soft shading flair and voila. We got this. Shame at the time, I was still no great shakes with hands. Oh well, I'm better now for it. And as always, vote for a new commentary page. You know you love it.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 19th, 12:15 A.M. Geez, when the HELL did we start this chapter again? Know what the sad thing is? This one was just as long as Ambrosia's chapter. Now it's finally over, ending with a couple more secrets and points of interest. OOOH, we gonna tear these onions apart layer by layer somewhere down the road, you watch. You guys know the drill. We'll have a new page of commentary up in a few hours with your supportive click of a button, so check it out once it's there.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 16th, 12:12 A.M. Boy, things just got sullen all of a sudden, didn't they? We have another page commentary that'll be set up in a few hours, but if you vote NOW, you can see a concept sketch used for the final design of Shiori Hieda Suou, the historian behind the Codex, drawn by FQ staffer Megan Pannell. Heh. Someone named "Pannell" working on a comic site. What are the odds?
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 13th, 12:12 A.M. Hey, Seraphim! That's a familiar term around these parts, isn't it? But that Felicia, she continues to surprise. Heh, funny thing. When I was drawing that second to last panel, I accidentally made Felicia's right eye visible. She looked really cute, but then I remembered that her right eye isn't visible for the most part. CURSE YOU, SANJI Also, if you vote anytime after 2 a.m., you can see commentary for the Chapter 1/Saga 1 Cover. Always a personal favorite of mine.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 10th, 1:33 A.M.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 9th, 12:10 A.M. Pay attention, folks, there may be a quiz later. MAYBE You actually have me to thank for actually being able to read this page, outside of the fact that I drew it. Mike Renner was considering editing the little lesson out of the script and leaving it to simply being an entry in the Codex until I reminded him that we want people to read the COMIC, not the Codex...well, we do want people to read the Codex, but at the same time, I just believed that something like this shouldn't have been edited out. Luckily, Renner agreed. If you ask me, though, I think it's an intricate way of saying they live through the use of an ATB meter. XD Commentary aside, voting! If you vote now, you can see a flat colored version of the last page! If you vote later, you can see commentary for Page 3 from aaaall the way back in the prologue! SEE? IT'S WIN-WIN
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 6th, 12:20 A.M. Now for a change of setting...well, as far as the time of day goes anyway. Setting up this campsite wasn't terribly difficult, especially since once I really get into working on a background, I have a hard time knowing when to stop (so you know it's a pain when I have to redraw it when the inking process rears it's ugly head XD), but making the line shading for the rocks was an iffy process because of the campfire. Still, I kept on keeping on and came up with a nice little spot for Lionel and Felicia to rest for the night. And on a business side of things, sick of not getting anything for your votes for us on the TWC list? Well worry not, friends! WE HAVE A SOLUTION. If you vote for us from now on, you can see special commentary from Mike Renner on the current pages of Fetch Quest! And everyone loves behind the scenes action, right? ...right?
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: July 2nd, 12:05 A.M. 'What's in a name', indeed.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: June 29th, 1:10 A.M. HMM...According to Shiori's Codex, these two are generally awkward around others, one obviously more than the other. And now they find each other with the other's company. This ought to be interesting.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: June 25th, 12:20 A.M. I'M BAAAAAAAAAACK! Didja miss me? I know a certain someone who's name starts with 'S' and ends with 'hannon' did! Hey, thanks for taking over for me on the Fireball front while I was gone. WITH THAT SAID, HERE'S THIS And in case you missed them for whatever reason, here's links to Page 7 and Page 8 as well. I picked a fine time to come back, didn't I? Just in time to give Blackey here a name! Hey, pal! You saved her life, now she's gonna follow you home.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: June 15th, 1:40 A.M. Man, am I slipping update wise! Must be the upcoming trip. But seriously folks, it's not so much the page more than that last panel. I totally screwed up the perspective and, as per my usual, didn't notice until it was way too late to fix it. Other than that, page is fine, really.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: June 11th, 12:20 A.M. I didn't totally forget it was a Thursday. Nope nope. Mistake by Sanders: rushing the new guy. Bad Sanders. Mistake by me: Mr. Black's hand in the last panel. Hands are still a win lose situation for me.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: June 9th, 12:20 A.M.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: June 8th, 12:00 A.M. So much for him. A little artist's commentary, but the second to last panel originally didn't look like that. The first draft looked like Sanders was attempting to punch our boy instead of carve him up, so I decided a little redraw was in order. The end result is much better. Too bad I didn't catch this with a few mistakes on the next couple of pages. I say this now because I'm not sure if I'll be around to do so when the pages go up. Speaking of which, I'm going to be heading on a vacation to visit the family in Massachusetts from the 17th to the 22nd. Not to worry, though. Fireball20XL's own Shannon will be covering me for updates on Fireball, while Renner (or maybe even Chuck XD) will fill in on the Fetch Quest page itself. HOORAY FOR BUFFERS I also got a new original art and commission for the same Renner in my Artwork page. And commission spots are still open! GO GO GO
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: June 4th, 12:30 A.M. Ho ho! It would appear that some of you have taken some interest to our friend in black here. Let's see if them punks feel lucky. By the by, I'm opening up three new commission spots. Get 'em while they're hot. And be sure to click the nice little voting button we now have on our main page, won't you?
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: June 1st, 12:30 A.M. Hooraaaay, our first on-panel corpses! Well, okay, SOME of them are in better shape than others, but yes, people DO DIE in this comic. Shocking, ainnit? : / Outside that, lemme share an interesting little tidbit with you lot. For all the years I've been drawing, the one thing that I've never, ever, EVER drawn constantly...was hats. Hell, save for the bandanas of Big Nasty and Mr. O.M.A, I never draw ANY sort of headgear regularly. So Lionel's hat may look wonky at first. I know it does here. But after drawing that Darkwing Ducks commission of Akuma's, and constantly referring back to Exterminatus Now, with Lothar Hex wearing a similar hat, I think I've got a better hang of it that I did before. Which is to say I didn't have one to begin with. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH WELL
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 28th, 12:34 A.M. NOD YER HEAD, BLACK COAT'S COMIN' FOR YA HO HO, thought you'd get Mr. Man's identity from the chapter title like Saffron, Nephilim, Ambrosia, and Felicia, eh? WELL, NOT THIS TIME. Though I'm sure those who've followed my art prolly already know who he is anyway. But not to the extent of knowing his full deal, so it's okay! Right. Tune in Monday when we get this chapter started up properly.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 25th, 12:00 A.M. If you didn't go to the Fetch Quest page between the last update and today, you missed out on an announcement. To keep our rather slim buffer somewhat larger than it really is, we are not going to be posting EoC and Chapter Title pages the days after a chapter ends for the former and the day before the chapter starts for the latter, rather we are posting them on regular Monday and Thursday update days. This would explain why you're seeing Felicia Whitewind's EoC page now opposed to Friday. Just sending the message along. And I actually have a greater load of other stuff to present in today's update as well, including two new original pieces I made in my Artwork page AND several new pieces of fanart to boot.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 20th, 11:55 A.M. So much for Felicia's moment of badassery. But LOOK. WHO IS THAT MYSTERIOUS INDIVIDUAL THAT LIGHTENS THE PANELS WITH HIS PRESENCE? Yeah, that's right. His. Told you we had balls in this comic. More on that next week as we begin Chapterrrrrrrrrrr Five! There's some artist's commentary on the Fetch Quest site.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 18th, 12:44 A.M. Whenever I have to draw most things, be it a person's figure, background setting, or specific effect, I find it helpful to look at the works of others to see how I can perhaps tune it to my own drawing style. More specifically, other comics and manga. Hey, if you can't rely on the work of professionals, what can you rely on? In this particular instance, I had to turn to Chapter 100 of "One Piece" and any times Miroku of "Inuyasha" fame ever used the Wind Tunnel (Kazaana for you 'purists') to get an idea of how to handle this. Luckily for me, I was able to get it to look like the wind was, in fact, going out of Felicia's hand and not going IN like the monk in reference.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 16th, 12:40 A.M. I got some new pieces of fanart done in my Artwork page, including birthday art of my own for the PSY and a little something for you Zelda freaks out there.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 14th, 12:00 A.M. If only fight scenes from most media were this short! XD
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 13th, 12:50 A.M. Mike Renner Commission: Part the Sixteenth You MAY have seen this lot before...
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 11th, 12:00 A.M. They may just be common bandits, but amusingly enough, I think I actually started to give Sanders and O'Hara something that resembled personality in this page, more so the former bandit than anything. And you have no idea how many times I kept forgetting to draw O'Hara's front hair singed after what happened last page. But this chapter's not about them! This is about Felicia! But I gotta say, it's always fun to draw those kind of "what if I..." thought bubble like gimmicks seen in Felicia's thought process here.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 7th, 12:10 A.M. I dunno about you guys, but I don't think Felicia's the common mugging victim.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 4th, 12:20 A.M. I'm telling ya, you can't go anywhere these days without getting mugged! Ask any artist and they'll prolly tell you, among other things, how much of a bane drawing backgrounds are. Many go out of their way to avoid doing such. But for the rocky valley that the next portion of this story takes place in, I can actually say that effortlessness pays off rather nicely. Opposed to zooming in and inking and or pen tooling very carefully, all I had to do was just practically scribble where the lines were on the paper and boom. Instant rocky terrain. Because if I DID do this carefully, it would look too smooth to be rocky. SO. OH, one more thing. I've still got a few commission spots open if anyone's interested in ordering. All details can be found here.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: April 30th, 12:20 A.M. Also got another Akuma Commission for you funky people.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: April 27th, 10:20 P.M. Akuma the Hedgehog Commission.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: April 26th, 1:11 A.M. Got a couple new art pieces for you guys. One's an original piece originally made for the Members section, but now you get it free! The other's a commission for TrumanGrace. Now speaking of commissions, here's something for the twenty million of you out there who have come to me asking for a spot only to be shut down because the current queue was too big. Now, what I WANTED to do was get the list down to a point where I could regularly take ten orders at a time so to have SOMETHING that resembles a steady income since my job ain't cutting it anymore. While the list is still big, I have been and still am working on it to the point where I can at least do something about this. So, for the time being, I will be accepting five orders at a time while I work on getting these down so I can take the proposed ten. Once I fill those spots up and clear some more, I'll take five more spots, rinse and repeat in this horrible cycle and boom. You all get the commissions you either paid for or have been lining up for for months now and I can stave off the bill collectors and put some food in my cabinet and gas in my tank (Pity party? No, I am DEAD serious). Everybody wins. So there you have it. Get those orders in now, because if the last few months for me have been any indication and once those potential customers read this, they WON'T last long.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: April 26th, 12:00 A.M. If you haven't learned from Felicia's Codex Entry yet, you can at get a decent example of how Felicia talks from this page.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: April 23rd, 12:21 A.M. Sorry for the lack of commentary last update, folks, wasn't feeling terribly hot. ANYHOW, so that Felicia kid, right? Interesting sort. As Renner said, she seems to be the current most popular character within the inside crew who follow and often times help out with Fetch Quest related material. And she has her moments with myself and Renner, too, only in our case, we tend to almost inadvertently pick on her, going as far as to say that she's more or less our new Kiki if there are any old school IWD fans in the house. But enough of that. As you'll notice with this update, speechless as it may be, that Felicia has her quite a few talents.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: April 20th, 12:12 A.M.
Chapter 4, Page 1 Okay, NOW we can get it started properly.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: April 17th, 12:12 A.M. And here's Ambrosia's EoC page. EDUMACATE YERSELVES One of the drawbacks of when I do an EoC pages is if I do it before actual work on a chapter, the art is outdated compared to the chapter's end. But, better to have it ready and in some cases, the art, outdated or no, looks pretty good. Ambry here is a good example.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: April 16th, 1:00 A.M. I have to say that this is perhaps the best page I've drawn yet for this series. Even beating out that city backdrop massacre that made out the majority of Chapter 2, Page 2. I tried out a lot of new things and they all worked out astonishingly well. Very proud. And so sort of ends yet another chapter, the longest so far. Tune in tomorrow where you can learn a little more about Miss Verdandi from her End of Chapter page.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY: April 12th, 12:40 A.M. Me and the boys in the back have a saying for this sort of thing: BUSTED. This page is actually sort of unique in it's presentation, simply for being a panel longer than the original script intended. I felt somewhere between the fourth and (in this page) sixth panels that a little more was needed to give something of a dramatic pause considering what's currently going on. So a little creative licensing on the artist's part and bada-bing, bada-boom, we're in business. This is the first page where I had to make such a decision, and it's not the last.
